Meet Dr. Albrekt Homer Berglund

Albrekt H. Berglund is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in diseases and surgeries of the retina, vitreous, and macula. Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, on August 28, 1964, he earned his M.D. from Pritzker School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He then completed his internship in internal medicine and residency in ophthalmology at NYU Grossman School of Medicine in New York. With over 20 years of experience in oculoplastic and orbital surgery, Dr. Berglund has also been a pioneer in laser vision correction, performing the first excimer laser procedures in the Chicagoland area using the VISX Excimer Laser.

Dr. Berglund has a proven track record in diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, refractive errors (astigmatism, myopia, hyperopia), dry eye syndrome, and corneal diseases.
